These areas of expertise are used as appropriate and in a combined manner in order to answer to customer requirements and engineer solutions for complex, demanding, and multidisciplinary problems.

Networking and HPC may be combined in order to bring a highly optimized solution for a Telecom operator, or Dependability expertise may be combined with EAI in order to answer to high reliability requirements of an OLTP system.


Enterprise Application Integration (EAI)

The EAI area of expertise addresses complex integration and application development problems by using open, standard, and state-of-the-art technologies. The technological environment is centred on the J2EE model (Java 2 Enterprise Edition), and associated middleware with an emphasis on open-source and mobility issues.

Integration of systems and solutions within organizations are a major concern today. IS/IT fast pace of evolution in the past years has left many organizations with islands of information spread throughout departments, offices, and services, comprising both legacy and state-of-the-art systems. EAI addresses these problems as well as application custom development with solutions built over the J2EE model, taking advantage of existing pre-developed platforms and components. Solutions are typically centred on the web.

Dependability

The Dependability area of expertise addresses the increasing concern over computer and software systems dependability issues. This is a major issue today as software becomes increasingly involved in every aspect of everyday life and increasingly controls mission and business critical processes and applications.

The Dependability area of expertise includes RAMS techniques (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety), FDIR (Fault Detection, Isolation, and recovery), and ISVV (Independent Software Verification and Validation).

For RAMS analysis, both experimental and analytical techniques are employed such as FTA, FMECA. Specifically for experimental verification & validation HEITEIC has offered and provided a leading commercial software implemented fault-injection technology, named Xception™.


As an ISVV supplier, ITECH Research & Investments provides software verification and validation services for several markets such as aerospace, automotive, defence, health-care, telecom, and finance. Its independent position (from large financial and industrial groups) provides a unique status for ITECH Research & Investments in this market.

Ground Segment Software

The Ground Segment software area of expertise addresses solutions for the Ground User Segment Software and Communications field mostly for the space, aeronautics, and defence sectors. Specific expertise includes: Payload data processing, dissemination, and mining, Concurrent Monitoring and Control Mission Control Systems, and recently specific competencies have been acquired in the Spacecraft Control and Operations Systems (SCOS-2000) from ESOC/ESA.

Networking

The Networking area of expertise addresses enterprise networking and communications solutions. The need to communicate in a fast and feasible manner is essential for today's organizations. Networks and Information Systems are increasingly addressed in an integrated manner. In this context there's as growing need for system integration and mediation, fostered by the need to seamless manage, integrate and interconnect multiple network elements, protocols, and systems. Specific areas of expertise include: low-level switch software interfaces, protocol mediation solutions and protocol converters, TMN Solutions, application/system performance tuning, network and logical security, IPv6, and quality-of-service (QoS).

High Performance Computing (HPC)

The HPC area of expertise addresses the increasing performance needs of today information systems. The portfolio of services includes: optimization of processes, tuning, parameterization, development of parallel applications and code parallelization. Problems addressed include: handling of large data volumes, scale processes (more data, same time), accelerate processes (same data, less time), and implementation of complex processes and algorithms.

Among HPC flagship products is WMPI™, a middleware for high performance computing capable of harnessing the power of workstation clusters to execute highly demanding business or scientific applications with a low price/performance ratio. WMPI is an implementation of the Message Passing Interface Standard (MPI) that has currently a user base of several thousand institutions in academy, R&D, and enterprises.

Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)

The MES area of expertise addresses process industry information systems' requirements as well as factory-floor integration.

The MES area of expertise engineers customize solutions to match the ever-specific requirements of different process industries while founding its solutions on a common platform with tested and a wide validated pre-developed components and modules. This approach provides added reliability, performance and cost effectiveness while enabling the development of custom-made solutions capable of incorporating innovative and distinguishing factors that provide competitive advantages.
